NYC Invitational…

Shop Lylac out of Canada is the proud sponsor of this update out of Brooklyn!  Peep their shop HERE!

Heading into the weekend in Brooklyn we managed to find parking in a sketchy lot in Staten Island for $15.00 for the entire weekend.  That is a great deal, however the lot was unsecured, we had a broken window, and we intended to leave a video camera, laptop, and numerous other things in the van.  Sketchy.  The day started out with a ferry ride to meet up with Nick LaBarre and then a long skate from Battery park over the Brooklyn Bridge and to the site of the contest.  Pretty sure most of us realized how out of shape we were.

As night fell and more rollerbladers assembled it became apparent that the nights would be lasting until 6 am every night.  Some of the vague memories included Montre flipping into the windshield of a car, sleeping face down on a hardwood floor, hundreds of hassidic jews running their neighborhood on a Saturday, the best gelato ever, countless slices of pizza, and Alex Broskow rocking the contest for 1st place.

Big ups to the guys at Create and Billy O’Neill for setting up the contest as well as Johnny from Bernal Heights Dispensary for hooking it up and putting money back into blading!
